  3. OMO3 / Georeferencer harmonizing

From the OMO3 compare tool i can navigate (via edit button) to the georeferencer for updating a specific map. Currently this redirects me to different georeferencer installation with different themes / languages.

From a user perspective, it would be nice to redirect to OMO3 themed georeferencer.

  4. create an accessibility statement

In the UK, accessibility regulations came into force for public sector bodies on 23 September 2018. They say you must make your website or mobile app more accessible by making it ‘perceivable, operable, understandable and robust’. You need to include and update an accessibility statement on your website.

The full name of the accessibility regulations is the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

The accessibility regulations build on your existing obligations to people who have a disability under the Equality Act 2010 (or the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in Northern Ireland).

    For example, somebody…

  5. add date and full name of map when mouse hovers

I have 5 maps from different years for comparing how Oakland, CA has changed over time. The functionality is amazing!

However, both the list of current maps and the list of maps that are bookmarked have the names truncated. This makes hard to see which map is which. And to see which item is which year requires clicking on it and going to the page for the map, then scrolling down to find the date.

It would great if there were a "tooltip" when hovering over items in the lists which showed the year and full title of the map…

  7. targetted URLs

request for a URL that would present the base map in a specific area/zoom. Any maps allied to the area then chosen manually by the surfer.

see http://osgr.mister.red - I will add links to any useful website where targetted URLs can be generated from OSGR/LatLong. (or from selected website URLs with implied geo data).

  10. Import PDF + Grid lines

I'm used to georeferencing dozens of approach plates for aviation, which means it would be awesome to import them directly in PDF at a given DPI. Most of the charts come with the lat and lon marks so, instead of placing points, it would be faster to simple position 2 latitude lines for top and bottom and 2 longitud lines for left and right sides.

  11. Guidance for volunteers on number of points and clip points

There have been a number if maps recently where i was presented with a map where the number of points entered exceeded 150 (One recent of map of San Francisco had points on every street intersection some 300+) It is extremely time consuming removing these points. Can there be a maximum as well as a minimum number of points for each map.?
Clipping the map. Can I have some guidance on what should be included in a clipped map eg legend, co-ordinates, title, scale. ( there have been a number of instances when a map has clipped to the outline…

  12. More Specific Error Messages for WMS Problems

If I try to use this WMS:
    https://www.ogd.stadt-zuerich.ch/wms/geoportal/Historischer_Uebersichtsplan_der_Stadt_Zuerich_um_1900
(which works in QGIS), I get just the generic error msg "URL is not a valid WMS server (error loading WMS Capabilities)".
Sometimes it's a leading blank in the URL which gives the same error.

  13. enable base map to be rotated

The rotation of source map introduced in version 4 is great, however it does not solve an imprtant issue. A lot of historical maps and plans (like cities from old sketches) have landmarks drawn. When such map is NOT oriented to the North, then after rotating the base map, it does not look good. It would be great, if there would be a possibility to rotate also the base map (openstreetmap, google maps, satelite view, etc)

  14. Keep track of the number of edits by a user

It would be helpful if the number of edits that each user commits was tracked and perhaps was encouraged through some benefits.

Also, it would be helpful to know how long it typically takes for edits to become permanent.

Thank you for your idea, we are currently working on implementing this feature.

“Also, it would be helpful to know how long it typically takes for edits to become permanent.”
Can you please specify, what you mean by “edits to become permanent” ?
    Thank you

  15. Have an "undo" or "step back" option for accidents

This is for when you accidentally click something with your mouse and you don't even know what control point you changed, you just see it is skewed.

  16. book map parts together like puzzle pieces

The ability to add parts of book map together like a puzzle on one map. (like Christopher Colles's book map of 1798). Presently I believe you can only compare maps by clicking on them separately.

  17. Allow digitizing points, lines & polygons

It would be great to permit digitizing/tracing of point, polyline, and polygon geometries once a map is georectified, then saving them. Old maps are the best source for approximate locations of places that no longer exist or have changed names. And they are virtually the only source for approximate locations of roads, rail, former river courses. With this feature, Georeferencer could fully support "historical mapathons," which will add a great volume to the historical geodata commons. Points would be highest priority, followed by lines and polygons.

  18. Real Time Control Point Accuracy Feedback

Most times I am Georeferencing I wonder, is the control point I'm about to add accurate. It would be wonderful to be able to instantly see if it was after I add it. Three specific suggestions.

    1. In the Coordinates Pane, prominently show an Average Error score. That way after a point is added you can see if the score goes up or down.

    2. In the Transformation tab of the pane show an Average Error score foe each of the transformation types you can select. That way you know which one is best to select.

    3. If you add a Control Point…

  19. Coordinates Sidebar on Side by Side and Overlay Layouts

It would be amazing to see the coordinates as you add control points so you can keep track of how accurately you are doing so.

Recommended UX would be to get rid of the coordinates tab and integrate the coordinates pane into the Side by Side and Overlay layouts. Clicking on a Coordinates icon would slide out the pane in the same manner that the other maps pane slides out.

  20. High Res Vector Base Map

Ability to use High quality vector base map as a base layer.

Ideally the following three layers will be available.
    1. OSM Bright - https://openmaptiles.org/
    2. Streets (including 3d buildings) - https://maps.klokantech.com/
    3. Positron - https://openmaptiles.org/
