  3. make it more obvious how to delete a control point, because I can't work it out

Also, if a control point is heavily skewing the map (and is thus probably inaccurate) it should be pointed out to the user.

  4. Indicate maximum image size

Message says source image is too big. File is .png format and does save, however, will not save as cropped.

  5. Allow multiple crop areas per source page

Sometimes there are multiple maps on a source page. if you allowed multiple crop areas or had a way to flag that there is additional information that was not captured, that would help

  8. add functionality for dealing with alternative map projections

I was working on georeferencing a map of the Arctic and surrounding regions done in an azimuthal projection, but attempting to fit it to the OSM/MapQuest cylindrical projection simply did not work out. Also, a means of adding notes about a map might be nice too as there was no way to flag or otherwise indicate a (currently) un-georeferenceable map.

  9. Compare two old maps next to / over each other without deformation

We should add a mode to display two maps without deformation - either synchronized (when panning/zooming on one the other is displayed too) or overlayed...

Already implemented – via My Maps. There is overlay mode and side-by-side viewer for two maps. In Georeferencer v4 we will add also mode for showing even more maps.

  10. Detect automatically points which will form wrong georeference and warn users

The Georeferencer should display a warning in case a user is trying to save georeference which is going to be for sure not accurate.

    Typical problems:

    • Less then minimal amount of control points (two/three/four points - to decide)
    • All points are in one line (affine transformation is not possible to calculate then).
    • All points are very close together - the points should be ideally spread around the whole map.
    • There are points with a very high calculated error

  12. synchronised zoom-in

allow synchronised zoom-in across two maps when georeferencing based on points already georeferenced/saved. When one point is clicked, show approximate location of other in the other map.

  14. to fix the website, it doesn´t work for me at all. Doesn´t load the images.

I can´t load any image at all. It seems the website is totally useless. I´ve georeferenced a couple of images, but I can´t do that anymore.

There is a limit for uploaded maps into your georeferencer account. Please see the “Settings” section in “My maps”.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. We implemented a new version of Georeferencer tool. Can you please try again and give us feedback?

    Thank you.

  15. Integrate MapAnalystOnline directly into the georeferencing window

It would be nice to see the results of one's work directly. When I saw that the MapAnalyst mesh does not cover the whole area of a map I felt obliged to add more points to the map :-)

It would be nice if it was possible to just switch the mesh on ond off during the georeferencing process. Also, seeing the shift of some of the points might help spot incorrectly placed points.

  16. Downloadable georeferenced maps

For example, the Blais maps of Los Angeles are viewable in the Georeferencer which means the which means the info is there. So let us download a GeoTIFF or similar. Thanks for listening.

  18. saving crop outline when no points present

When the georeferencing starts with the creation of a crop outline it is impossible to save the outline - georeferencer wants at least 3 points first.

  19. add a button: Report Problem with Map

I just tried to georeference and ended up with this map: http://britishlibrary.georeferencer.com/map/cUPNM96sjanZDMSmwY5oRu/201407062019-NNjMnZ/ which is a composition of two different maps in an image. I would like to have a button where I can report problems like these to a curator which will then take the appropriate steps (in this case split the image into two different maps, which can then be georeferenced). A button like this could prompt a form where the user can maybe enter the type of problem from a preselected list and add free text describing the problem. Also the possibility to enter an email address to…

  20. Distortion live preview and initial placement, scale and rotation marker.

A lot of reference points in maps without rigid or rotated CRS or of insurance map type only become easily apparent after transformation in map overlay. Would be great to have a live preview of the referenced map (preferably realized in 2D-Canvas) to continue referencing with the information already entered.

There might also be a complex initial marker type with interactive handles for position scale and rotation to get started with maps of unknown or known non-north orientation.

draggable handles would be O,N and Scale where O is the position(x,y), N the orientation, or rotational…
